Passive Dynamics has announced a series of senior leadership promotions as we enter our next phase of growth across Ireland and the UK.

John Treanor has been appointed Director, with David Devlin and Liam Guinan promoted to Associate Directors.

The significance of LEED v5 

What encouraged us most is how the updated guidelines shift the conversation from simply “meeting code” to pursuing the best possible outcomes.

Sessions exploring LEED v5’s new prerequisites such as Climate Resilience and Human Impact Assessments along with its streamlined Project Priorities category all emphasise raising ambition, steering teams past check-box compliance toward real, measurable impact.

Circle 2025 opened with a showcase of standout projects. The Highmark Building, an A-rated Dublin retrofit that Passive Dynamics steered to LEED Gold was highlighted for hitting embodied-carbon and circular-design benchmarks that rival new builds.

The Irish construction sector is already delivering world-class sustainability and this project proves it.

A standout session on the Smart Readiness Indicator Framework, led by Vessela Valtcheva-McGee, Bonnie Brook, Denisa Diaconu, Martin Stohl and Nathalie Marková explored how data-driven controls can close the performance gap, enhance occupant comfort and strengthen climate resilience.

Their message echoed the entire summit: aim higher, design smarter and let performance not paperwork lead the way.

In line with our ongoing commitment to Research and Innovation, Eoin Gahan, Director and John Treanor, Associate Director recently visited some of London’s most sustainable and low carbon buildings.

One of these notable buildings is Space House London, a 255,000 sq ft brutalist masterpiece. Designed in the early 1960s and completed in 1968, Space House has recently undergone development and reimagining into a low-carbon building, achieving mixed-mode hybrid ventilation,BREEAM Outstanding certification, and Fitwel certification. Notably, it is the first of its kind for a listed commercial building. Bold in every sense, Space House has been designed to a CAT A Speculative Grade A standard, prioritising Mixed Mode Natural Ventilation.

What this building showcases is that we are no longer in an era of sealed buildings reliant solely on air conditioning systems. Much like the evolution of cars over the last decade, buildings must evolve to be operated in low-carbon mode for the majority of the occupied period.

Our Team consisting of Ciarán McCabe, John Treanor and Adrián Bes were carrying out some sustainability related site inspections at Vantage Business Park today on behalf of our client Newpark.

Passive Dynamics Sustainability Consultants are appointed on this project to conduct the roles of LEED AP, ASHRAE 90.1 Energy Model, Embodied Carbon Life Cycle Analysis and Commissioning Agent.

This is the very first mass-timber, multi-unit business park in Ireland which will incorporate four detached grade-A units ranging in size from 68,000 to 121,000 sq ft surrounded by heavily planted landscapes, walking and cycling tracks and sustainable transport links.

The use of timber is significantly reducing the embodied carbon of these new buildings when compared with traditional steel construction.

We are delighted to be involved with the recent LEED Gold certification awarded to Unit 628, a 40,000 sqft logistics space in Northwest Logistics Park. We were appointed by Park Developments to deliver LEED certification as the LEED AP, LEED Commissioning Agent and we also provided the ASHRAE 90.1 Energy Model.

Some key sustainable aspects of this building include the specification of low flow water efficient appliances, energy monitoring metering infrastructure, and Renewable Energy systems, in the form of PV panels.

In terms of circular-economy, 94% of project waste generated was diverted from landfill. This was achieved through a carefully planned waste management and segregation system.

This accreditation is a fantastic achievement for Park Developments who are fully committed sustainability.
